Three Generations of AV

Before SWAT A/V. The cable industry that built it.

~1980s

Cable TV Arlington

VP of Operations. Bear ran field operations for one of the largest independent cable operators in Northern Virginia until Comcast acquired the company in 1994.

1994

Silver Bullet Cable Service

Founded after the Comcast buyout. Grew to more than 100 technicians across seven counties in the DMV before transitioning to family AV.

2004

SWAT A/V

Rick founded SWAT with childhood friend Bill Burson. Bear came on as full partner running the back office, warehouse, and proposals. Still does today.

What Bear Does Now

Back office. Warehouse. Proposals.

Bear runs the part of SWAT A/V you don't see. Proposals get scoped through him. Equipment receives at the North Potomac warehouse and goes out to jobs through him. Vendor relationships — Lutron, Sonos, Bose, B&O, Ubiquiti, Eero, Klipsch — he maintains them all.

He still uses printed checklists and Post-it notes. After 40 years in cable and AV, the workflow doesn't change. The technology does.

If you've ever gotten a proposal from SWAT A/V, Bear wrote it. If your gear showed up on time the day of install, Bear coordinated it.

"Rick handles the field. I handle the rest. We've been splitting it that way for 22 years. It works because we both know what the other half is doing."
